Okavango Explorers is an immersive tented safari camp located in the remote southwest of Botswana’s 231,000-acre Selinda Private Reserve at the intersection of the upper Okavango Delta and the Selinda Spillway. The reserve has an extremely high concentration of wildlife, and during the dry season, over 9,000 elephants have been documented inside it. Giraffes, buffalo, and antelope are also plentiful and pursued by predators like lions, leopards, and wild dogs. Safari experiences include walking, canoeing, and game drives.
The camp is part of Great Plains Conservation’s explorer collection of camps with fewer amenities but the same excellent service and conservation ethic as some of their premier camps. The canvas safari tents are decorated in a classic safari style and have views overlooking the spillway. We particularly like this camp for families who want a taste of the wild. There is a kids club and children as young as eight can participate in walking safaris.
