Kakuli is Time + Tide's walking-safari camp at the confluence of the Luwi and Luangwa Rivers; its name, meaning 'old buffalo bull,' was a nickname given to safari pioneer Norman Carr. Accommodation is four classic tents plus a family tent under thatch, each simply furnished with a four-poster bed and an outdoor shower, overlooking the hippo-filled river. A resident lion pride and a seasonal carmine bee-eater colony make it a strong base for walking safaris.
