A Cape Dutch–gabled manor house set in established gardens in leafy Karen, the old coffee-farm country on Nairobi's edge made famous by Karen Blixen. Inside it keeps its old-Kenya character — beamed ceilings, open fires, Persian rugs and four-poster beds under mosquito netting — while a wide verandah looks over the lawn and pool. A quiet, characterful base for the city end of a safari, a short drive from the Giraffe Centre, the David Sheldrick elephant orphanage and Wilson Airport for onward flights.
