Olderkesi Conservancy, Maasai Mara, Kenya
Cottar's 1920s Camp recreates the golden age of safari on the Olderkesi Conservancy, a private 7,600-acre concession on the south-eastern edge of the Maasai Mara that borders the Serengeti. Cream canvas tents — double, family and honeymoon — are furnished with original 1920s and '30s safari antiques, en-suite bathrooms with roll-top tubs, dressing rooms and private verandas. The camp is run by the Cottar family, East Africa's oldest safari dynasty, guiding here since 1919, and its conservancy lease underpins a long-standing conservation partnership with the local Maasai. Days run to morning and afternoon game drives, guided bush walks, night drives in the conservancy and visits to a Maasai village, with the wider Mara and its migration within reach.
