Basecamp Masai Mara sits in riverine forest on the banks of the Talek River, at the northeastern edge of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Its 17 en-suite tents each open to a private river-facing deck, with solar-heated showers and bio-flush toilets reflecting the camp's long-standing eco ethos. Maasai guides lead morning and afternoon game drives, and an on-site afforestation program has drawn more than 300 bird species. The camp is owned and staffed by the local Maasai community and is a recognized leader in responsible tourism.
