Lewa Wilderness is one of Kenya's oldest family-run safari operations, running for over 40 years on the 62,000-acre Lewa Wildlife Conservancy below Mount Kenya. The nine thatched guest cottages have large decks with valley or garden views and fireplaces for cold plateau nights, while the main lodge sits in an original family home with an open-air dining room serving produce from a five-acre farm. Beyond game drives, the conservancy — home to around 270 rhinos — offers horseback and camel-supported safaris, walking, and sleep-outs under the stars. Children of all ages are welcome, and the area is malaria-free.
