Karoo Lodge is the main lodge at Samara Karoo Reserve, a 67,000-acre private reserve in the Great Karoo of the Eastern Cape spanning five vegetation biomes. It has 10 suites — eight Karoo suites and two family suites — styled as a reimagined farmstead in traditional Karoo architecture, with reeded ceilings, deep verandahs, packed stone walls and wooden floors. The reserve is one of the best places in Africa to track cheetah on foot, thanks to a long-running reintroduction program, and also holds the Big Five and over 60 mammal species.
