Mara Plains

Mara Plains is a luxury safari camp located in the 33,000-acre Olare Motorogi Conservancy on the northern border of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Private conservancies like Olare Motorogi are the ideal way to see the wild wonders of the Mara because they aren’t subjected to the herds of Land Rovers that crowd around the animals during the great migration. This conservancy, in particular, has the lowest density of tourists in the area.

The camp is tucked into a forest along the Ntiakitiak River, and all tents feature large private verandas and copper soaking tubs that look out onto the riparian ecosystem. Guests can hear a chorus of animals such as leopards or hippos calling into the night. Conservation fees from Mara Plains Camp support over 1,000 Maasai families.
