Chelinda Lodge

The rolling hills of the Nyika Plateau in northern Malawi are often dotted with large herds of antelope and zebra. At night elusive predators like leopards, serval, or hyenas can be seen here. The eight log cabins of Chelinda Lodge are the most comfortable base from which to explore this dramatic landscape. Chelinda organizes game drives, guided walks, birding, and mountain biking for guests, but hiking and biking are some of the biggest draws. The 3-day hike of the Livinstonia trail starts here and takes you across the grasslands through rivers, forests, waterfalls, and Malawian villages. Accommodation on the journey is in small tented camps along rivers with simple amenities like bucket showers heated over an open fire. There is also a range of trails available for those wanting to flow over the hills on a mountain bike. It’s a truly magical and wild place to traverse.
