Set on over 30,000 acres in the Chinati Mountains in West Texas, Cibolo Creek Ranch is the ultimate ranch escape. The hotel is one of the oldest ranches in Texas and rooms are housed in several 19th-century hacienda-style forts. A stay here is far from roughing it, and guests can spend time in the pool, spa, or dining communally on delicious Southwestern cuisine. The resort also has an extensive wine cellar, a selection of Mexican beers, and mixes a good margarita. Ultimately the landscape is the highlight of your visit, and there is a wide variety of activities on offer to explore it. Stunning desert mountain vistas, dotted with bison or pronghorn antelope can be seen on foot, on horseback, or a 4×4 tour. There are also tours of Native American rock art sites found on the ranch.
Because of its remote location, Cibolo Creek Ranch is a destination unto itself. It is a 3.5-hour drive from El Paso and 7.5 hour drive from Austin, but it also has a private airstrip for charter flights. The ranch also combines well with an art and food tour of Marfa or hiking in Big Bend National Park.
