Day 1 – Thursday, March 21: Arrive in Liberia

Take the short flight from Austin to Liberia, Costa Rica, where a driver will pick you up and take you one hour east to Rio Perdido. The resort includes a hot springs river and lots of hiking/mountain biking trails. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the hotel or in the hot spring river.

Day 2 – Friday, March 22: Mountain Biking

Enjoy mountain biking or hiking on the trails on the resort property.

Day 3 – Saturday, March 23: Yoga and Picnic

Start your day with a yoga class, followed by an afternoon picnic on the river. Other activities include white water tubing and hiking.

Day 4 – Sunday, March 24: To Chirripo

Your driver will meet you in the morning for the one-hour drive back to Liberia, where you will take a 45-minute flight to San Jose. From there, it’s another 4 hours to the base of Cerro Chirripo, Costa Rica’s tallest mountain. You can stay the night at a glamping retreat like Kinkara.

Day 5 – Monday, March 24: Chirripo Hike Day 1

Wake up early to start the hike up Chirripo, so you can get to the refuge by nightfall. You can stay in simple mountain hostel for the evening.

Day 6 – Tuesday, March 26: Chirripo Summit

Awake at dawn to summit the mountain early in the morning. After your descent, drive back to San Jose and El Silencio Lodge, tucked away in the cloud forests north of the city.

Day 7 – Wednesday, March 27: El Silencio

Spend the day relaxing at El Silencio or exploring the nature trails on the property or in the neighboring reserves.

Day 8 – Thursday, March 28: Departure

Take the short drive to the airport in the afternoon for a direct flight back to Houston.
