Tutka Bay Lodge, near Homer, is the quintessential Alaskan adventure destination. The lodge, which sits at the mouth of a fjord, is ruggedly luxurious and comprised of six log cabins with sea views, a welcoming main lodge, a sauna, and a boathouse. The highlights of a stay here include brown bear-viewing tours across the bay along the Katmai Coast or deep-sea fishing for salmon and halibut. Activities nearby include hiking the lodge’s trail system through old-growth forests or exploring the shoreline by sea kayak. Your stay here won’t be entirely rugged, however. The all-inclusive restaurant serves award-winning cuisine that highlights local Alaskan ingredients, and there is a wellness director to lead yoga, meditation classes, and sound bathing in the forest.
Tutka Bay Lodge is open seasonally from May 1st to September 30th. Access to the lodge is via a twenty-five-minute water taxi south across the bay from Homer or a one hour private charter from Anchorage.
