Angama Mara

The Maasai Mara National Reserve in southwest Kenya is one of the most iconic landscapes for wildlife viewing in the world. The wide rolling plains are home to the Great Migration and large populations of other plains game species. We are usually hesitant to recommend camps within the Mara and instead focus on private conservancies because crowds of Land Rovers can often overwhelm the experience of nature here. However, we make one notable exception with Angama Mara. The stylish luxury lodge is perched high atop the Mara escarpment overlooking the reserve, and it offers some of the most stunning views in all of Africa.

The 30 tented suites are divided into two smaller private camps. The rooms are spacious with massive picture windows and large sitting decks to take in the view. They are decorated in a contemporary style with classic safari accents. Guests can spend their time on game drives, hot air ballooning, or relaxing in the large infinity pool. A stay at the lodge is complimented by a few nights at the Angama Safari Camp, a stylish exclusive use mobile tented camp within the Mara Triangle, closer to the wildlife.
