Somalisa Camp

Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s largest national park and is known for protecting one of the largest elephant herds in Africa. It is estimated that over 44,000 of these charismatic animals inhabit the park. Somalisa Camp is located in an acacia grove on a private concession in the middle of the park. It is the flagship property of African Bush Camps and one of the most elegant places to stay in Hwange. The seven luxury tents that comprise the camp are furnished in a bold red color palette with wood and copper accents. Guests can relax in front of their private fireplace or a deep soaking tub overlooking the savannah. The camp’s central lodge has views of a large waterhole but herds of elephants are known to frequent the camp pool.

Activities at the camp are focused on day and night game drives and walking safaris. Sightings of lions, leopards, antelope, giraffes, and the ubiquitous elephants are common. Somalisa Camp is fully solar-powered and recycles 80% of its water, which is why it was awarded the first Gold Level Green Tourism Certification in Zimbabwe.
