Kisawa is an over 300-acre sanctuary of dunes, forests, and beaches on the southern tip of Benguerra Island in Mozambique. The island is part of the Bazaruto Archipelago and Bazaruto National Marine Park–home to dhow sailboats, tropical reefs, and migrating humpbacks. Kisawa is the newest, most exclusive, and most design-forward lodging on the island. The hotel was built by local artisans and was also partially 3D printed. Each residence is designed to have a light footprint on the island and occupies a private one-acre plot designed to enhance appreciation of nature. Beyond its stylish exterior are several engaging activities offered by the resort. There is a PADI-certified dive center that runs snorkeling and scuba excursions to swim with sea life such as turtles, reef fish, billfish, and sharks. A helicopter tour or transfer over the shifting blue water is unforgettable.
Kisawa is a sister property of the nonprofit Bazaruto Center for Scientific Studies (BCSS) located across the island. The center uses its location to support local environmental management as well as international scientific studies.
