The 290,000-acre Sapi Private Reserve is located along the Zambezi River next to Mana Pools National Park in northern Zimbabwe. Once a hunting concession, the reserve had been depleted of wildlife when Great Plains took over its management of it in 2016. Tembo Plains camp is central to their restoration plan for the property, and it is quickly becoming one of Africa’s best wildlife destinations. Elephants are seen regularly near the camp, and predators like wild dogs, leopards, and lions are becoming more common. Guests can explore the reserve on game drives, but canoeing the Zambezi is recommended for more adventurous safari goers. The six safari tents that make up Tembo Plains are located riverfront all have a classic canvas style with stonework that recalls Zimbabwe’s great ruins. Each also has luxurious touches like a copper bath, private plunge pool, and expansive living area. Professional cameras are also available for guest use during your stay.
