Hoanib Valley Camp is tucked into the vast mountains, dunes, and deserts of Northwest Namibia. The small cluster of sleek tan luxury safari tents blends into the rough landscape and its design uses local materials and seeks to minimize impacts on the land as much as possible. The area is one of the best to see desert-adapted elephants and giraffes on game drives or walks. The camp is a joint venture between the local communities and the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, which conducts research there.
Travelers can also visit the local Herero people and learn about how they live in the harsh climate. December through March is the rainy season, and during this time the dry landscape will grow green with grasses and the river may even briefly flow. The camp pairs well with nearby Shipwreck Lodge in Skeleton Coast National park.
