Duke’s Camp

Duke’s Camp is situated in an 89,000-acre private concession along a channel in the Northern Okavango Delta. The reserve is located near the more well-known Moremi and Duba Plains reserves, and elephants and lions are plentiful here too. The camp is named after Sarefo ‘Duke’ Sarefo, whose ancestors have long been custodians of the island the camp sits on. Duke’s is the sister camp of the iconic Jack’s Camp, and, in a similar style, the 12 army green tents offer a low-key luxury that exudes personality and a sense of place. Persian textiles, brass fittings, and a selection of antiques make for a storybook safari experience.

The camp offers fewer amenities than some other luxury camps in Botswana, but there are plenty of activities to fill your days, including Mokoro dugout canoe safaris and helicopter tours. From April and October, the Delta floods arrive to offer relief to the dry season. Water levels begin to recede in October, but the camp’s northern location ensures that it sees new floodwaters early. This mean’s that activities like mokoro safaris can be enjoyed year-round. Because the camp is on a private concession, there are fewer travelers and game drives are offered both day and night. Meals can be taken communally in the dining tent, the stylish tea tent, or outside under the trees and stars.
