Chada Katavi is a classic tented safari camp in the remote Katavi National Park in Western Tanzania. The park is the third largest in Tanzania and includes over a million acres of floodplains, grasslands, and forests. This vast landscape supports impressive numbers of plains game, including giant pods of hippos, and some of the largest herds of buffalo on the planet. These are sights rarely seen by other foreign tourists.
The six canvas tents that make up the camp are minimally but nicely decorated in a campaign-style. There are few frills, but this provides an opportunity to feel close to nature. We recommend trying fly camping for an even more intimate experience with the wild, sleeping out among the animals and under the stars.
A safari at Chada Katavi pairs well with chimp trekking in Mahale Mountains National Park at its sister property, Greystoke Mahale. Chada Katavi is closed for the rainy season from December to May.
