Fauna Travel

MCP Connector

Fauna Travel for AI assistants

Fauna Travel is a safari company. This connector turns our live catalog into tools an AI assistant can use to plan a trip end to end — browse bookable set-departure safaris with real per-person pricing and availability, pull a trip's full route and lodges, and look up any safari country's best months, suitability ratings, and US-passport entry requirements. Every trip returns a link to reserve rooms with a refundable US$50 hold.

Connect

Add this remote MCP server in your assistant's connector settings:

https://faunatravel.com/mcp

No authentication required — the connector returns only already-public data and never writes anything. (In Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.)

Tools

Nine read-only tools. The example shows the arguments; unknown country/lodge/departure inputs return a JSON { "error": … } object (not an exception), so bad inputs are safe to probe.

Browse set-departure safaris

list_departures

No args returns one summary per trip (each has an itinerary_id); pass an itinerary to get that trip's dated departures (each has a departure_id). Filter by country, date, or guests.

{} → { "itinerary": "best-of-zambia" }

Get a departure's dates & price

get_departure

One departure's dates, per-person price (USD, 2 sharing), spaces left, the US$50 hold fee, terms, and booking link.

{ "departure_id": "<from list_departures>" }

Get an itinerary's route

get_itinerary

A trip's full route: legs, nights, lodges, highlights, inclusions, and from-price.

{ "itinerary": "best-of-zambia" }

Get a lodge's details

get_lodge

A lodge's details and the trips it features in.

{ "lodge": "chinzombo" }

List safari countries

list_destinations

Every safari country Fauna covers, the suitability dimensions, and the 0–3 rating scale.

{}

Get a country guide

get_destination

One country: description, best months, 0–3 suitability ratings, US-passport entry requirements (official source), and matching trips.

{ "country": "Botswana" }

Country seasonality & weather

get_seasonality

Month-by-month 'best time to travel' scores for a country, plus the measured monthly weather (avg high/low temp + rainfall, from Open-Meteo). Optionally restrict to one month.

{ "country": "Kenya", "month": "Aug" }

Match countries to a traveler

match_destinations

Safari countries ranked for a traveler type / month / priorities, each with its month weather and how many Fauna trips we run there. All args optional.

{ "traveler_type": "honeymoon", "month": "Jul" }

Compare safari countries

compare_destinations

Safari countries ranked on one suitability metric, or by a given month's 'best time to travel'.

{ "metric": "walking_safari" }

Trying it out

Every tool is self-contained — each step can use output from the previous, so nothing goes stale. A good end-to-end pass: list_destinations → get_destination / get_seasonality → match_destinations / compare_destinations → list_departures (grab an itinerary_id, then a departure_id) → get_departure / get_itinerary / get_lodge.

Prefer deriving IDs from list_departures (set-departures refresh on a schedule). Known-good example values: countries Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa; metric keys are returned by list_destinations (e.g. walking_safari, honeymoon).

How booking works

The connector is read-only — it never charges a card or places a booking. Each departure includes a deep link to reserve rooms with a refundable US$50 hold, which the traveler completes on faunatravel.com. A hold is not a confirmed booking; our team arranges the balance by email afterward.

Coverage

Bookable itineraries are strongest across East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania) and Southern Africa (Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, South Africa), with destination reference for all of safari Africa (including Namibia, Rwanda, Uganda, Madagascar, Mozambique). New itineraries are added continuously and appear automatically — the connector reads our live catalog.
