Hi Pavani and Sri, I’ve sketched some rough trip outlines below so you can know what’s possible. Each can be customized to fit your budget and preferences. Beyond this, visiting Cape Town, beach resorts on the Indian Ocean, or an elephant orphanage are popular extensions to consider. Let me know if you have any questions or want more details. Now is an excellent time to book for next summer.

South African Wine and Safari

Because of multiple direct flights from the United States and good exchange rates, South Africa is one of the most accessible safari countries. One of the best ways to see the country is starting with a visit to Cape Town and the Cape Winelands. You’ll enjoy some of the best food in the world in scenic wine country before heading off on a safari. Depending on your budget, there are multiple safari areas to visit, but all have abundant wildlife and a good standard of accommodation. The Sabi Sands near Kruger is one of the best places in the world to see leopards and is famous for its luxury lodges.

Highlights of East Africa

Kenya and Tanzania are classic safari destinations. I like to start in Nairobi and visit a giraffe center or elephant orphanage before flying to the highlands around Mount Kenya. The weather is cool, and the landscape is incredible. Plus, the Lewa Conservancy has an overnight camel-supported walking safari if you want to add a little adventure to your trip. Depending on the time of year and how important seeing the Great Migration is to you, I like to finish around the Maasai Mara in Kenya or Serengeti in Tanzania. You’ll see wildlife on a grand scale across the vast plains of Africa.

Zambezi River Safari

Zambia offers one of the most authentic safari experiences in Africa. I like to start the trip in a waterfront suite on the Zambezi River near Victoria Falls, the most massive curtain of water on earth. From there, visit South Luangwa National Park. You can take adventurous walking safaris or focus on luxury lodges with game drives there. Finish your trip in Lower Zambezi National Park for boat and canoe safaris and a private plunge pool overlooking the river.

Elephant Lover’s Botswana and Zimbabwe

Botswana and Zimbabwe have the largest elephant populations on earth, and at certain times of the year, you can see herds consisting of hundreds of individual animals. Visit some of our favorite safari lodges in the area for exceptional encounters, and also see the wildlife-rich Okavango Delta and scenic Victoria Falls on your trip.
