Menorca to Dublin

Ireland is one of my top choices for the ease of access and great weather. I would spend a day in Dublin before taking the 2 hour train ride to Galway on the West Coast. It’s Ireland’s cultural capitol and about 20% of the population speak Irish. You can also use it as a base to explore the sights of the coast. Here is a concise travel guide I found to Galway.

Menorca to Amsterdam
4:15-6:45pm | 2.5hr nonstop | $116

We keep mentioning Amsterdam as a transit point, but I think it might be fun to consider a stop in the Netherlands. I would only stay the night in Amsterdam before heading to one of its second cities. Utrecht comes up regularly as having lots of cycling, playgrounds etc. Here is a kid friendly itinerary I found.

Menorca to Vienna
8:35-10:45pm on Austrian | 2hr nonstop | $260

Austria made my list because of the direct flight, authentic German feel, and Alps – but honestly the late direct flight time might be a dealbreaker. If it’s not, you could venture east to the foot of the Alps and the small city of Innsbruck.

Menorca to Copenhagen
10:30am-4:40pm | 6hr w/ 2 2hr at London Gatwick | $197

Menorca to Oslo
10:35am-4:35pm | 6hr w/ 1.75hr in Barcelona | $375

I’m generalizing Scandinavia here because the flights are similar, and I can go into more detail if you’re interested. They are connecting flights – but not too long. However, they are different airlines, so you can’t really have checked bags. Scandinavian countries are known to be welcoming for kids.

Menorca to Istanbul
10:35am-5:30pm | 6hr w 1.5hr layover in Barcelona | $278

If you want a real adventure, Istanbul is relatively accessible, very different, and has lots of international connections. It will be warmer in the summer (in the 80s), so not much different from some parts of Germany/France. After some time in the big city, you can go to a smaller town like Bursa. Here is a kids travel guide I found.

Menorca to Glasgow
11:30-1:30 on Jet2 | 3hr nonstop | $240
https://www.google.com/travel/flights/s/AbNiam4HnXnxFohE9
This is probably the least exotic destination on the list, but I’ve included it because of the ease of access. I would spend a day or two in Glasgow before heading into the Highlands. You could rent a house in a charming small town like Fort William, where you can access the lochs, canals, and castles the area is famous for.
