Saturday, October 5, 2024: Naples to Sorrento

Depart from Aeroporto Di Catania Fontanarossa “Vincenzo Bellini” (CTA) at 7:45am on EasyJet to Naples. Upon your arrival at Naples Capodichino Airport, meet in the arrival hall after the
luggage claim with your private English-speaking driver, who will meet you and assist with your private car transfer to Sorrento. Check-in for a 4-night stay in 3 Deluxe Rooms with a sea view balcony and daily buffet breakfast included at Hotel Corallo.

Sunday, October 6, 2024: The Path of Gods & Positano

After breakfast at the hotel, meet your English-speaking driver in the lobby and transfer to the starting point of the Path of the Gods hike, one of the most famous in Italy. One couple will be dropped off in Ravello and picked up at the end of the hike to meet the group in Positano.

At the trailhead, you will meet an English-speaking hiking guide. The Path of the Gods stretches between the tiny mountain village of Bomerano, through Nocelle, and down to the famous seaside city of Positano. The reason for this fame is the constant ups and downs, the fantastic sheer vertical drops, and the landscapes cultivated in terraces. The trail starts in the mountains, so you get sweeping views of the amazingly blue Mediterranean and all of the seaside towns that dot the coast. The final destination and the highlight of this hike is a view of the stunning island of Capri. During the hike, you’ll stop for a lovely picnic organized by your guide.

In the evening, transfer back to your hotel, escorted by your driver. Meals at leisure and overnight in Sorrento.

Restaurants in Positano

ZAAS – Via Laurito 2, Positano – +39 089 875455  (€€€€)
This restaurant has 1 Michelin star.
Zass, its Michelin-starred restaurant, is extremely popular with visitors (booking in advance is highly recommended). The cuisine showcases all the colours and flavours of the Mediterranean with harmony and elegance, focusing mainly on the traditions of Campania, especially in appetisers such as the small bites of lightly baked Pizza Margherita and in creative dishes elsewhere on the menu. Many of his ingredients are sourced from the hotel’s kitchen garden, which he uses to create dishes based on meat and, especially, fish, including his signature John Dory (flavoured with lemon and accompanied by mashed potatoes with bufala yoghurt, seasonal vegetables and his famous Champagne and truffle sauce), and other fish such as mullet, sea bass, scampi and squid. Excellent service, a pianist providing background music, and an idyllic terrace boasting stunning views all play their part in making this a truly memorable dining experience.
LI GALLI – Viale Pasitea 318, Positano – +39 089 875655  (€€€€)
This restaurant has 1 Michelin star.
This restaurant housed within the elegant Villa Franca hotel in the upper part of Positano boasts a small, bright dining room with distinctive black marble tables (just seven of them!), a glass ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows that open in summer to create an outdoor dining space. The beautiful view looks out to sea and Li Galli, the island after which the restaurant is named. Much of Chef’s technique focuses on beautiful presentation and a light touch, while the excellent service also adds to guests’ overall enjoyment of the dining experience. The trolleys that display a selection of olive oils, excellent bread and a choice of tempting desserts are also worth a special mention. The wine list practically spans the globe with around 1 000 different labels – France and Italy take centre stage, with a focus on champagne (especially Krug), with many wines also available by the glass.
LA SPONDA – Via Colombo 30, Positano – +39 089 875066 (€€€€)
An elegant restaurant within Le Sirenuse, one of the most prestigious and glamorous hotels on the Amalfi coast, with an attractive outdoor terrace for summer dining with views of Positano’s colourful houses clinging to the cliff face. Whether you choose to eat inside or out, a romantic atmosphere is guaranteed thanks to the hundreds of candles lit every evening. At the helm, Neapolitan chef Gennaro Russo maintains the restaurant’s high standards with his Mediterranean dishes, often influenced by Campania and inspired by classic favourites. The flavours of southern Italy are showcased in delicious dishes such as lemon risotto with capers.
NEXT2 – Via Pasitea 242, Positano  – +39 089 812 3516  (€€€)
Although it changed chef in 2023, this restaurant continues to be renowned for its excellent, modern and inviting cuisine. The menu showcases mostly regional ingredients that are transformed into delicious recipes (the oily fish, prawn, baby spinach and Jerusalem artichoke millefeuille is highly recommended). The impressive wine list and selection of cocktails can also be enjoyed as an aperitif or post-dinner drink at the wine bar.
AL PALAZZO – Via Dei Mulini 23, Positano – +39 089 875177 (€€€)
Al Palazzo is the renowned restaurant at the Palazzo Murat hotel which is run by the Attanasio family. Dine alfresco in the restaurant’s beautiful botanical garden with its tiny vegetable patch, apart from on rare days of bad weather, when guests are served indoors in its small, elegant dining rooms. The Mediterranean cuisine includes meat and fish dishes alike, with slightly different menus at lunchtime (simpler options) and in the evening. Le Petit Murat bar is still open, offering an interesting selection of cocktails to supplement its excellent wine list.
RADA ROOFTOP – Via Grotte dell’Incanto 51, Positano – +39 089 875874  (€€€)
Right at the end of Positano beach, and above the ground-floor night club, this restaurant on the first floor of an old fishermen’s warehouse offers breathtaking views of the village and the sea. Creative cuisine inspired by Mediterranean traditions.
LA SCALINATELLA – Via Trara Genoino, 27, 84017 Positano SA – +39 089875002 (€€)
The restaurant area is incredibly charming, with flowers fall from its ceiling and beautiful views.Nested on a cliff, overlooking the sea, the ideal position of the hotel, the restaurant la Scalinatella offers a spectacle under the stars. Their menus reflect a fresh Mediterranean approach capturing the essence of seasonal aromas and flavors in every single dish.
IL TRIDENTE – Viale Pasitea, 140, 84017 Positano SA – +39 089 811 111 (€€)
Il Tridente is located in a privileged position: it is literally in the centre of Positano, high enough to enjoy unparalleled views, but still very close to the main beach and easily reachable by road from the neighbouring towns.
LA TAVERNA DEL LEONE – Via Laurito 43, Positano – +39 089 811302  (€€)
Situated three kilometres east of Positano, this family-run restaurant has been in business for almost 60 years and is one of the most popular in the region – and for good reason. The classic-style dining room with a striking open-view kitchen adorned with local blue-and-white ceramics provides the setting for meat and fish dishes (mainly local) prepared from top-quality ingredients with the occasional personal touch.
DA VINCENZO – Viale Pasitea 172/178, Positano – +39 089 875128  (€€)
It’s never easy to find the right balance between quality and quantity, especially in a town that is very much on the tourist trail. However, Da Vincenzo has succeeded in doing just this for years, ever since it was first opened by the family’s grandfather Vincenzo in 1958. Today, the founder’s grandson (who shares his grandfather’s name) is at the helm here, creating dishes which focus mainly on fish. Pleasant atmosphere, with a few small tables on the pavement of the street that runs through the centre of Positano. A choice of cocktails supplements the wine selection from lunchtime onwards.

Monday, October 7, 2024: Pompeii & Herculaneum

Today, meet your private English-speaking driver and drive to Pompeii, where you will meet a private guide for a walking tour of the archeologic park and ruins. Before Vesuvius blew its top in 79 A.D, Pompeii was a rich commercial hub home to more than 10,000 inhabitants, with a dense network of residential buildings, shops, and entertainment facilities that included an amphitheater and multiple thermal spas. While some of it still remains interred, most has been uncovered and fantastically preserved.

At the end of the tour, stop at Sorrentino Vini wine estate for a group cellar tour, light lunch, and delicious wine tasting. Then head towards Herculaneum, where you’ll meet another guide. Herculaneum was buried beneath 16 meters of ash and mud during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, and this layer of detritus saved two-story homes with the internal architecture and décor intact, including features in wood and marble, decorations, jewelry, and even organic remains like food, providing a unique view into the daily lives of the ancient population of Herculaneum.

Return to the hotel at the end of your excursion. Dinner at leisure and overnight in Sorrento.

Tuesday, October 8, 2024: Sorrento

Spend the day in Sorrento. Rest, relax, and enjoy the hotel facilities or to explore the area on your own. The little town of Sorrento sits amid lemon and orange groves on the south side of the Bay of Naples, surrounded by craggy cliffs that rise 55 meters above the sea. The heart of the town is busy Piazza Tasso, surrounded by little streets where you’ll find shopping and places to eat. You can’t miss the Monastery of San Francesco: its highlight is the vine-covered cloister. Bring your swimsuit with you and reach “Bagni della Regina Giovanna”: the ruins of a Roman villa with a beautiful natural pool below it. It’s a great chance to refresh during the day. If you are feeling active, you can always take the ferry to nearby Capri. Meals at leisure and overnight in Sorrento.
