May 11-13: Londolozi

These four days are a time to really slow down and settle into the safari life. This includes both dawn and evening game drives and plenty of time to relax by your private pool in the afternoons. Morning game drives can be surprisingly chilly in South Africa, so pack a sweater. Londolozi has some of the best wildlife viewing and guides in Africa, and often all of the “Big 5” (rhino, elephant, lion, leopard, and buffalo) can be seen in one day. There is also an excellent spa (extra charge), and you can visit the lodge’s sustainability projects in neighboring villages.

May 14: To Victoria Falls

On your final morning, you will depart around sunrise on a 20-minute flight to Kruger Mpumalunga International Airport. Londolozi has scheduled this.

The only flight to Victoria Falls that doesn’t require an overnight layover departs at 8:30am. From here, fly to Johannesburg and on to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

Your flight to Johannesburg is Airlink 4Z824, and you will connect to Victoria Falls on Airlink 4Z494.

Upon arrival in Zimbabwe, you will clear customs (Visa on arrival) and be picked up by a representative and driven to Kalambezi Jetty for the boat ride up the Zambezi River to Mpala Jena, a small luxury lodge that is done in a Mozambique beach style away from the bustle of the falls.

May 15-16: Mpala Jena

After your day of flying, I suggest relaxing with a cocktail and simply enjoying the river view for the afternoon. On the first full day, you can tour Victoria Falls in the morning and relax by the pool for the afternoon. On your last full day, you can safari in the adjacent Victoria Falls, which has a surprisingly good wildlife population or cruise down the river looking for elephants. End your last full day with a scenic sunset cruise on the Zambezi River.

May 17: To Botswana

Wake in the morning for your transfer back to Victoria Falls International Airport. From here, it will be a short hop to Kasane in neighboring Botswana, where you will go through customs. Great Plains will have all of your ticketing information.

You will be a safari pro at this point, so what better place to explore than the Okavango Delta. Botswana has some of the best wildlife on the planet, and Tuludi is well-positioned to see a good number of elephants. It is dependent on water flow in the Delta, but you should also be able to take a traditional mokoro dugout canoe safari. This is also an excellent place to take walking safaris before relaxing for the afternoon in your plunge pool. Game drives are also available.

May 20: Departure

Awake in the morning for your flight from Tuludi Camp to Maun International Airport. From here, you can connect to your international flight in Johannesburg. Your flight to Johannesburg is Air Botswana BP0211 at 2:15pm. Your flight in Johannesburg back to the States is UA 187.
