South Luangwa National Park is located along the Luangwa River at the southern end of Africa’s Great Rift Valley. It is renowned for wildlife concentrations along the river, including lions, leopards, giraffes, buffalo, and elephants. It is here that Normal Carr created the first walking safari concept, and the area is still one of the best places to walk in Zambia.
Time + Tide, formerly Norman Carr safaris, has several camps in the park, and Chinzombo is their premier offering. The styling of the camp is modern and luxurious, but its natural tones and accents blend into the bush. All tents include large covered decks with private plunge pools. The main lodge includes a library, bar, and a sleek infinity pool overlooking the river. Unlike some other camps in Zambia, Chinzombo is open year-round. Boating safaris on the river are also offered seasonally depending on the water level.
